STREAM QUALITY ASSESSMENT WITH MACROINVERTEBRATES The first two paragraphs explain what macroinvertebrates are and why they are helpful in determining water quality.
ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES – Describes optimum habitat for macroinvertebrates as well as the four basic categories that describe their feeding habits.
BIOLOGICAL INDICATOR ORGANISMS – Organisms are arranged by their sensitivity to pollution, i.e., Group One Taxa - Pollution Sensitive Organisms, Group Two Taxa - Pollution Intermediate Organisms, and Group Three Taxa - Pollution Tolerate Organisms.
